 Pastor Davidson’s Bio

Haywood was the first of three children born to Haywood & Homerzell Davidson. He was raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended public schools in Little Rock Arkansas and graduated from Central High School.

Haywood enlisted in the U.S. Navy and retired after serving 20 years. During the course of Haywood’s Navy enlistment, he enrolled in Oxnard College in Oxnard California and earned an Associate degree in General Liberal Arts and Sciences. He enrolled in the University of Laverne in California and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology.

Haywood met and married his wife of 27 years, the former Marilyn Ferguson at Bullock Temple C.M.E. Church while his Uncle, Rev. Albert Davidson was the pastor.

Haywood’s love of God and the church began to become evident when he was a member of St. John C.M.E. church in San Diego, CA and a member of Bethel A.M.E. church in Oxnard California.

The last four years of Haywood’s Navy career sent him to the U.S. Naval Ordinance in Cape Canaveral Florida.  Haywood joined Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church in July of 1998 under the leadership of Rev. Benny Johnson and he served in many capacities such as the church Treasurer, a Steward, member of the Finance Team, on the Commission of Stewardship and Finance, a Sunday school teacher, Vice-chair of the Men’s ministry and a member of the Mass choir, Male chorus, and Lay Organization.

Haywood’s most important accomplishment and honor is that he has been called and has accepted the Ministry of God’s word. Haywood accepted his call to the ministry while a member of Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Presiding Elder (Ret.) Mary W. Robinson. He was ordained an itinerant Elder during the 112th Session of the Central Conference Annual Conference in September 2011. Haywood earned his Masters of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary in May of 2012. Haywood is currently enrolled in a Doctor of Ministry Program at Payne Theological Seminary with an emphasis in Community Development.

Some of Haywood’s community involvements include volunteering for Daily Bread and Hospice of St. Francis.

Haywood is currently the Proud Pastor of Greater Mount Olive A.M.E. Church in Merritt Island, Florida where he is allowing God to direct him in the ministry of God’s people.

In the words of Haywood’s favorite hymn, Blessed Assurance Jesus is Mine, oh what a foretaste of Glory Divine, Heir of Salvation, Purchase of God, born of his Spirit washed in His Blood. This is my story, this my song, praising my Savior all the Day Long, this is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the Day long,
